Not because it's hot but because it's the same weather day in day out come winter or summer --- in our case plus 50 degrees Fahrenheit and pouring rain.

Trying to keep my spirits up regardless!Marja Kristiinahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16994877584056649395noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5592545829181315721.post-64517265378432507542008-08-11T09:14:00.000+01:002008-08-11T09:14:00.000+01:00Hiya Dev! I KNOW, Halloween is such a fun holiday and I wish we celebrated it here, too, at least with more enthusiasm (many people regard it only yet another Americanism). What this country needs is some more lightening up, especially in October/November. When living in the States, I had the best of times enjoying hay rides, a visit to A Haunted House, wienie roasts, trick-or-treaters, JOLs, the entire atmosphere of magic and mystique yet nothing too serious... Simply entertaining!

I'm also in the habit of serving a Thanksgiving lunch to my closest relatives once a year and that has been a big hit. We all get to say what we're thankful for that very moment and have a hearty meal, nothing fancy.

Have a good week!Marja Kristiinahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16994877584056649395noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5592545829181315721.post-5875869754234633732008-08-10T23:58:00.000+01:002008-08-10T23:58:00.000+01:00People moan about the weather but I love having se...People moan about the weather but I love having seasons. I would hate to be in a country that was boiling hot 24/7. We should be so grateful for the beautiful countryside and climate we have, but we do nothing but moan about it! Your dog is beautiful btw, is it a whippet or greyhound? I love greyhounds, my mum has one and she is the cutest most adorable dog!Tinyholderhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06282856264223984826noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5592545829181315721.post-29282755010916391182008-08-09T11:09:00.000+01:002008-08-09T11:09:00.000+01:00Hello Devina and thank you for visiting my blog. Here in Finland preschool is from the age of 6 to 7, and kids start their 12-year schooling path at the age of 7. We only have public schools and they are all excellent, practically no variance in the quality of education. Finland has been ranked number one in the PISA (Programme for Individual Student Assessment) surveycarried out by OECD every time for several years in a row now, followed by Japan and Korea.

Before preschool childcare is up to the individual families but kindergartens are municipally run and financed - and of equally excellent quality.Marja Kristiinahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16994877584056649395noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5592545829181315721.post-5346345963785857732008-08-06T20:45:00.000+01:002008-08-06T20:45:00.000+01:00Bad news about the camera, rotten luck that the gu...Bad news about the camera, rotten luck that the guarantee had only just run out. I would absolutely LOVE to have you particiapte in my "Halloween Swap"!!...And being in the UK is certainly no problem at all!...I think we should all have a lovely time with it!...I also wanted to comment about your wonderful blog. I just love today's post! I live in Southern California, where it is hot & dry...but the weather I love is cool & rainy, or cold & snowy!!! So your post today was describing & showing me "delightful weather"!!! I wish I could be there to enjoy that "pitter-pat" of the rain!...Again, I am thrilled to have you as part of my swap! Enjoy your day!....Heidi XOHeidihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00486014228700868893noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5592545829181315721.post-89597682802817052782008-08-06T07:38:00.000+01:002008-08-06T07:38:00.000+01:00Yet another lovely post, Dev, thank you! In an odd way I feel safe walking all alone in the pouring rain, usually not a person in sight. It's as though I'm being embraced and held by Mother Nature herself.

Maybe it's the very fact that I love water, especially the feeling of it on my skin. After all of my major surgeries with a massive amount of pain, ache and soreness I've always found comfort and relief in a hot shower (baths are prohibited with fresh wounds).
But don't worry, what I have is nothing life-threatening.

Then again, it's equally lovely to snuggle up underneath a comfy blanket to browse through mags and to sip hot tea while it's dark and stormy outside.

Take care!Marja Kristiinahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16994877584056649395noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5592545829181315721.post-6900522665755425622008-08-03T21:32:00.000+01:002008-08-03T21:32:00.000+01:00Hi, I just wanted you to know that I enjoy your bl...Hi, I just wanted you to know that I enjoy your blog very much!♥Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
