Autumn Observations
Leaves that crackle underfoot, gathering in golden piles.
Low mists, wraithlike lying across the open fields.
Clear night skies encrusted with crystal star confetti.
The silver moon walks her starry pathway, silent, enigmatic.
Jewelled cobwebs like diamante necklaces.
Trees adorned in gowns of yellow, orange and red.
Hedgerows bedecked in berries, crimson, scarlett and ruby red.
Wisps of bonfire smoke, pungent, warm against the chill.
Sunrise in pink skies, billowing clouds on the horizon.
Flocks of twittering starlings, swooping & swirling in purple grey clouds.
Trees dancing to the music of the wind that only they can hear.
Leaves pirouetting to the damp floor below.
Pumpkings grinning, witches cackling, ghostly footsteps.
Branches tapping on windows like bony fingers.
Banshees moaning through keyholes, screeching down chimneys.
Fireworks exploding in black velvet.
Wood sizzling in bonfires, green & orange flames leaping, consuming.
Hotdogs and onions, children giggling, scarves and mittens.
Sparklers tracing golden white patterns in the air.
Sparkling frost, glittering dewdrops, crunchy grass underfoot.
The quiet stillness of damp days, leaden skies, lamplight & candles.
Curtains drawn against rattling windows, firelight & hot water bottles.
Clear azure blue above, chocolate brown earth below, fallow.
The landscape sighing, holding its breath, preparing to sleep a while.
Happy Autumn Everybody

Love your version of the CL cover. It's nice to have someone wish you a Happo Autumn as so many people dislike this time of year. I love the opportunity to make the house warm and cosy and enjoy the changes in our surroundings. Lovely post
What an inspiring description of fall, lovely use of words again.
Hello Dev! I tried twice to leave a comment yesterday, but they went into the black hole of cyberspace. I love this posting - such wonderful evocative words and images of Autumn. The leaf still life could be a greeting card - go make some money from it! I love Autumn and Winter, all those jumpers, scarves, gloves and stew with dumplings - ah! Such joys ahead. Wishing you many Happy Days and a relaxing weekend. Denise
Hi Dev
you have a real way with words that was a pleasure to read just about sums up everything I love about this time of year!

Yes I will be able to use it in the winter we have insulated it and lined it with tongue and groove boarding and put electric down there so that I can have a heater in there. It's quite cosy can't wait to get it finished got to put carpet down, put up some shelves and I have blinds to make first. As soon as it's finished I'll post some pics on my blog. Hope you have a good weekend.
